Hey, I'm Z3R0.

As you might have guessed I'm a fan of games. I cut my teeth on systems like the ZX Spectrum and BBC Micro back in the mid 80s, right at the dawn of videogaming really, and since then I've enjoyed gaming across microcomputers, consoles, handhelds and PCs with those last two merging to becoming a particular area of interest and my platform of choice today. 

I recently acquired a Valve Steamdeck and have been really enoying getting back into games at a level that I found quite tricky to achieve in recent years. The portability and convenience of the SteamDeck means I can easily dip in and out of new and old games alike, experiencing the latest hype or getting a nice hit of nostalgia. 

In general I have found the rapidly growing Handheld PC sector to be very compelling. Having a portable device that can play all the games I want AND have that deeper level of tinkering available to get things running smoothly really appeals. Getting to know Linux better is always a plus too.

Coming from the days of microcomputers I do have a love for those old systems and being able to emulate them on the deck is particularly great as it means I don't have to worry about modding other devices like my Nintendo Switch. It also means I don't have to always pull the aging hardware out of storage for a play session every time, keeping them for the real special occasions!

I started this little blog really because I have aspirations to be a writer, but am fairly sure I'm far from good enough to ever be published. It felt like a cool idea to just jot down my thoughts as I play through games that are either newly released, or just new to me.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy my ramblings. Remember, my thoughts are all my own here, and you don't have to agree with them - everyone is allowed their opinions - but if you find yourself coming back, that's awesome.
